SRD R370 Status Shows Approved but No Payment Date: What It Means

Share your love

Your SRD status says “approved” but there is no payment date. No amount. No day. Just “approved” and nothing else.

This is one of the most common questions SRD applicants ask. And the answer is simpler than most people expect. You have not been forgotten. Your application is not stuck. Approval and payment are two separate steps, and the date only appears once the second step is done.

This article explains what is happening, what can delay the date from appearing, and what to do while you wait.

Approval and payment are not the same thing

When SASSA approves your SRD application, it is confirming that you qualify for that month. That is all it means at that point. It does not mean the payment has been processed or scheduled.

After approvals are processed, SASSA runs a separate payment scheduling step. Your payment is placed into a batch. The batch is matched to your bank. A date is assigned. Only once that is done does the date appear on your status result.

The gap between “approved” and a date appearing can be a few days. Sometimes it is longer. That is normal.

Do not reapply while waiting. You already have an approval. Reapplying can create a conflict with your existing approved application. Check back after a few days instead.

Three things that can hold the date back

Even after approval, three specific issues can delay when a payment date appears. These are worth checking before you call SASSA.

Your banking details have not been verified yet.

SASSA checks that the bank account is in your own name before it schedules a payment into it. If that check is still running, your payment waits. This happens most often when you recently changed your banking details. A new account goes through verification before any money moves.

If you changed your bank details recently, wait a few extra days. The verification runs automatically.

An identity check is still outstanding.

SASSA cross-checks your ID number with Home Affairs. If there is anything flagged on your Home Affairs record, the payment pauses until the check is cleared. This is not something you can fix yourself by calling SASSA. The check resolves on its own in most cases.

If your ID was recently re-issued or updated at Home Affairs, this is worth keeping in mind.

The cellphone number on your application no longer matches.

Your SRD application is linked to the cellphone number you used when you first applied. If that number has been deactivated, ported to a different network, or reassigned to someone else, the verification on your record can fail.

This is a common problem for people who changed their SIM or lost a phone after applying. The number on the application needs to match an active line.

What to do while you wait

If your status shows “approved” and no date has appeared yet, the right move is to wait a few days and check again.

Do not pay for any service that claims to release your payment date. No third party can do that. The date appears when SASSA’s system is ready. There is no shortcut.

When to contact SASSA

If your status has shown “approved” with no date for more than three weeks, and none of the three issues above apply to your situation, contact SASSA directly.

When you call, have your ID number ready. Ask about the payment scheduling status for your approved application. The call centre agent can check whether there is a specific hold on your record.

A few things that will not help

Reapplying will not speed up your payment. It creates a second application on top of an existing approval and can delay things further.

Calling SASSA every day will not release the date. The payment scheduling runs on a system cycle, not on request.

Paying someone to check your status will not help. Your status result is free. Anyone charging for it is taking money for something you can do yourself.

The short version

“Approved” means SASSA has confirmed you qualify for this month. The payment date appears separately, once SASSA has scheduled your batch. The three things most likely to delay that are a banking details verification still running, an identity check outstanding, or a cellphone number mismatch.

If none of those apply and more than three weeks have passed, call SASSA on 0800 60 10 11.
